How it works, in the open.

In a market this new, transparency matters more than promises. Here's how AI engines decide who to cite, and how we win those citations.

How do AI engines choose who to cite?

The short answer

AI engines favor businesses the wider web corroborates. They lean on third-party sources — directories, publications, review sites — more than your own marketing copy. Roughly ~85% of AI brand mentions come from third-party sites, not the brand's own. Clear entity data and schema help the engine identify you; corroboration across trusted sources is what gets you named.

A large language model doesn't rank pages the way a search engine does. It assembles an answer from what it has read across the web and weighs sources by how trustworthy and consistent they are. A single polished page on your own site carries far less weight than the same facts echoed across places the model already trusts.

This is why SEO doesn't simply transfer. Only a minority of the URLs AI engines cite also rank in Google's top 10. Ranking a page and being named in an answer are related, but they are not the same job — and they reward different work.

Baseline, implement, measure, report, repeat.

01

Baseline

We test a fixed set of high-intent queries across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews, and record exactly who gets named today. That's the number everything is measured against.

02

Implement

Entity and schema architecture, an answer library engineered for extraction, and citation placement on the third-party sources the engines trust. Every deliverable clears compliance review before it ships.

03

Measure

We re-run the same queries and track share of voice: which answers now name you, on which engines, for which prompts. Same test, so the movement is real.

04

Report

Monthly reporting tied to booked consultations, not impressions. You see what changed, what it cost, and what it produced.

05

Repeat

Citations decay and competitors move. We defend what you've won and expand into the next set of queries. It compounds.

How we run it.

Our tracking platform

We run our own AI-visibility tracking. Your reporting comes from querying the same engines your clients use — not a third-party dashboard guessing at it.

The compliance gate

Nothing publishes under your name until it passes review — your brand standards, your industry's rules, and any regulations that apply (Law Society rules for law firms, professional standards for healthcare, and the equivalent for your field). Marketing that survives scrutiny is the only kind worth putting your name on.

Measured against consultations

Every report ties back to booked consultations. Share of voice is the leading indicator; consultations are the number that matters.

AI referral traffic is still 1–2% of sessions for most businesses. We won't pretend otherwise. The reason to act now isn't volume — it's that these visitors convert at a multiple of organic, the category is early, and the citations you build compound while your competitors are still ignoring it.
